Home-Made Tortilla Chips (Baked)

I hope you are reading this post. I am addicted to tortilla chips. I love their taste and crunch. Darn, even that triangular shape of those makes them so addictive and easy to forget how many you had. Crunch, crunch, crunch, there goes one... hm... crunch, crunch, crunch, here goes another one... Help! ... next thing you know the bag is gone and you have another kilo extra to carry around. Blah... such a dilemma, should I or should I not?

Aaaanyhow, that USED TO HAPPEN. Resourceful moi now regularly enjoys a perfect guilt-free pleasure of dipping these little snacks into anything she sees (that is edible, spready, dippy, saucey... etc).

HOME-MADE (BAKED) TORTILLA CHIPS:
  • corn flour (or any type, I like whole grain spelt the best)
  • water
  • salt seasoning (or spice powders)

Simple as it is, make a dough from the flour and water. Roll out until thin, cut into squares and further to triangulars.

Leave for 10 minutes. Meantime, pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Spread the chips onto a baking tray, sprinkle with seasoning and place in the oven for about 7 - 8 minutes. Turn around and bake for another 2 - 3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the chips.

This is my humble contribution to Eat Well, Live Well event hosted by Mansi of Fun And Food.

Another fun way to eat these is to make them big and round (mix in a handful chopped coriander leaves, a teaspoon curry powder) and serve with curries and stews, like I did with my Madras Curry.
