Tried and Tasted (T&T) is a monthly event of appreciation of other blogs - an opportunity to thank your fellow bloggers for sharing their recipes by re-creating them.
Starting the very first edition of T&T, I have kindly asked Cynthia of Tastes Like Home to be the first “laboratory rat”.
Cynthia was the very first person to comment on my blog and is a great support throughout my blogging days. I have tried several of her recipes and have to say that not only do they look gorgeous, they taste delicious too.
Cynthia’s blog is beautifully weaved with pictures of dishes mainly from her homeland –
So why not come home one evening saying: “Honey, let’s have some
The rules are simple:
- Cook any recipe(s) from Tastes Like Home and post about it. Stay as true to the original recipe(s) as possible. Therefore, there is no need for re-posting it, simply link to the original post :-)
- There is no time-frame for the original recipe. It can be as old as my grand-mother or as fresh as a mung bean sprout.
- Have you cooked from Cynthia before? As this event is all about tasting and reflecting on the taste, older posts are also welcome. Simply link to this post and mention T&T event.
- Link your post to HERE (feel free to use the logo) and to the original post. Please always link to both sites, so both blogs are given credit and you are avoiding copyright fuss.
- Send me an e-mail (zlamushka@hotmail.com) with your name, your post URL as well as the original URL and a picture (any size).
- Deadline is the May 31st 2008 and the round up will be posted within a week.
The round up will be posted during the first week in June.
So from now on until the end of the month, we are enjoying TASTES LIKE HOME!
Excuse my impatience, I have already indulged myself into her Tamarind Relish:
Cynthia suggests this relish as a dipping sauce with raw or cooked veggies or instead of the regular chutney with any curry dish, particularly stirred into a seafood curry. I have stirred a generous tablespoon with boiled couscous, stir-fried mushrooms and peas, fresh veggies, nuts and raisins. Lovely sweet and sour, slightly spicy salad:

Great choice for a first blog...Cynthis's blog is fresh as it is facinating. I've tried her chanas, she sent me the recipe, & they were fab!! Tamarind relish sounds great...I love this event Zlamushka! YUM!!
I was fishing for that chana recipe myself. I just soaked the chickpeas and going to make a trip to the store soon to make sure I cook and eat like Cyn :-)
Thanks for dropping by my place Zlamushka. I will try my very best to make something for your event. My head is spinning - I'm that busy!
Hey Lisa, no stress. Cooking should be about fun and indulgences. Take it easy if you need, but do try out Cynthia´s cooking, once you get a chance regardless of my event.
Yes, cooking is a stress reliever for me actually. It's my creative outlet. I miss my kitchen when other business keeps me too busy. I have checked out Cynthia's site in the past and was quite impressed. Will of course visit again, especially as you recommend it.
i totally agree with you :-) When I am stressed out (or generally too much time out of home) I just wish I could be home making some hot-butt curry :-)
Thannks so much, Zlamushka, for letting me know of this event. Count me in. :-)
Meera,

Madhuram, thank you for getting back to me. I d be happy to see you around next time :-)
Dear Zlamushka I Posted the recipe to Tried & taste today (5/30/08) I remember finish at 31, so Im think maybe Im OK. I wait because I asked Cynthis other recipe to put but maybe she is so busy I posted this dessert (yummy) that she had in her Blog if you want to see tomorrow I posted Today. Many thanks Gloria from www.canelakitchen.blogspot.com
Gloria, that is so sweet of you, I am very pleased to hear that :-) Cynthia is generally very prompt, maybe she didnt receive your e-mail?
Zlamushka, I am so embarrass to know that I am seeing this for the first time today. Despite being a devoted reader of “Taste Like Home”, but better late than never. Being a native of Guyana like Cynthia it warms my heart and makes my mouth salivate each week I visit her page. Even though I do not have any pictures of my outcomes, I have tried many different recipes and renewed ways that Cynthia is shared with us. The one I use most frequently, and with much success is for roti.
MochaGold118, thanx for stopping by. Please dont worry, I am sure Cynthia will read this one and understand.
I d be happy to see you for round-up that i plan on posting next week :-)
All these recipes are looking so easy to make... I'll try some of them in my kitchen...
great :-)
Please do try them and let me know how they went :-)
